Traditional and contemporary design principles are complimented by fine joinery and furniture making techniques, all executed to precise tolerances and exacting standards. Technology as well as hand skills are carefully combined while the makers soul remains ever present.

We champion natural materials and enjoy native timbers which are carefully sourced, selected and sensitively placed within the project.

With a colourful creative history and traditional training in fine furniture making and design, Special Branch’s founder Marc Ellis cultivated a unique approach to a modern furniture studio. His background in sub-culture and performance art brings an unprecedented versatility to the workshop, with a receptive and tailored approach to the commissioning process. With over 35 years of making experience, Marc leads a strong team with honesty, integrity, and passion.
